Jayaraman Rao, MD

 

Dr. Jayaraman Rao is well published in the field of Parkinson's Disease and Movement disorders and is internationally known.  He is currently active in on-going clinical trials at Ochsner.  His main area of expertise is Parkinson's Disease and he has been managing patients in the area for more than 30 years.  He is the most experienced neurologist in the region in Deep Brain Stimulation therapy for Parkinson's, Essential tremor and dystonia. 

He earned his medical degree from Kasturba Medical College/Manipal & Mangalore University of Mysore in India. He completed his internship at Pontiac General Hospital/University of Michigan & Government General Hospital/University of Madras and his residency at St. Vincent's Hospital & Medical Center & Institutue of Neurology/University of Madras in India. He then completed fellowship training at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons in New York, NY in Neurobiology. Dr. Rao has been on staff since 2006. His area of special interest is Parkinson's Disease.
